The Stage of Anticipation

Sunday, January 3, 2016

This will be a quick post and a simple catch up.

The short of it is that we have our home study, completed, in hand!  It was such an incredible feeling to open the mailbox and finally see it there.

So with that in hand, we moved on to making our profile on AdoptUSKids.org!  The profile consists of a short write up about our family, what we like to do, and a lot of details on what we're looking for in a child, and what we are willing to accept.  It feels really weird feeling out, trust me.

Then on the 21st of December, we submitted inquiries on 4 kids.  The moment I clicked that interest button on the first kid I started crying.  I just felt this rush of emotion, everything came to a head that this is real and that we're doing this.  It was really special and beautiful for me.

We got responses from the caseworkers of two of the kids right away, requesting our full home study (it's a 13 page, in depth document!).  And then we haven't heard anything else since.  Which has been so hard.  It's difficult being patient in this process, but I think it's a lesson we're supposed to learn.

Our timing also wasn't great, submitting right before the holidays.  I'm guessing a lot of caseworkers aren't working these two weeks.

So, that's where we are at now.  In the stage of waiting in great anticipation.
